Overview

Reporting into the EIMEA QUality Director, the role

lements and co-ordinates robust QA protocols, processes and systems including integration of both new and existing processes to ensure that agreed quality standards for the development and production of new and existing product ranges are met.

Provides technical advice and guidance to the Quality Director EIMEA in the application of our QA Programme.

Ensures consistency and efficiency in our global QA business practices through assessment, implementation and adaption of global QA principles including contributing suggestions for improvement.

Ensures integrity and maintenance of the Quality Management System.

Responsible for:

·      Providing ongoing regional and occasional global Quality engineering management for quality functions to include quality engineering, supplier management, filler management, quality management systems, regulatory, quality engineering, legal, strategy, analytics & systems.

·      Design, delivery, training and maintenance of Quality methodologies, principles, and best practices to minimize risk.

  • Identification, attainment, and allocation of required resources.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

1.       Leadership

Coach, build and maintain a highly effective quality team in collaboration with the Quality Director EIMEA.

·        Demonstrate servant leadership in the attainment of corporate, department and personal goals through developing and leading a highly effective team.

·        Live the Company’s stated Values and Code of Conduct that others can emulate. 

·        Provide ongoing coaching/training, experiential learning, and talent development plans to optimize performance outcomes, growth, and engagement.  

·        Identify and provide necessary resources and information to overcome barriers to success and accomplish goals. 

2.       Quality Management processes and systems

·        Evaluate current QA practices to identify gaps, recommend improvement opportunities supported by a fully- costed business case/rationale in line with the agreed Global QA guidelines including the use of the Global QMS (Quality Management System).

·        Designs, recommends and review methods, tools, and resourcing improvements to sustain high-quality outcomes, reduce costs, increase efficiencies and accuracy.

·        Facilitate the development and implementation of QA processes and systems (in line with agreed Global QA practices) that provide clear and documented standards and protocols that both internal teams and 3rd party suppliers can follow and adhere to.

·        Oversee the implementation of quality monitoring and audit programme to ensure products and performance of fillers and suppliers comply with agreed standards and to oversee the following are completed:

1)     Summary of results are completed, regularly reported, and communicated,

2)     Recommendations and improvement measures are identified and implemented,

3)     Scorecards and metrics are developed, reviewed for suitability and in place in line with global activities that demonstrate product quality and consumer safety are paramount, links QA Strategy with business plans and the day-to day management of quality whilst recognizing the balance between commercial requirements, product effectiveness and quality standards.

·        Advising, coaching, and communicating Quality policies and practices internally and externally.

·        Facilitate the tracking and interpretation of consumer data to identify trends in consumer experience and make recommendations for required improvements.

·        Provide specialist QA advice and guidance to the Operations, R&D, and the wider business in the:

1)     Assessment, evaluation, and implementation of new 3rd party supplier arrangements (raw materials, fillers/blenders etc.) to minimize risks, unnecessary exposure and costs to WD-40 Company,

2)     Development and delivery of new products to ensure that products and range extensions meet agreed quality standards.

3.       Management of Change

·        Through the application of quality engineering tools and systems, and in collaboration with, operations/supply chain and R&D, compose and oversee actions required for MOCs (Management of Change) throughout the supply chain.

·        Recommend, review, and approve changes to quality engineering tools, systems, and methods resulting in costs savings, risk mitigation and efficiency creation: impact on production, inventory, testing requirements, sold-through product recall or recovery, product labeling and identification, customer relations, consumer relations, business performance, etc.

·        Assure implementation of MOCs.

·        Design commonly used QA systems and tools for company-wide use.

·        Partner with Innovation and R&D during product ideation/innovation, development, and product introduction to design in quality and prevent NCR related discrepancies.

 

4.       Strategy

·        Provide positive influence and leadership to develop the organization’s ability to learn, understand, and apply Quality systems and methodologies.

·        Translate company strategic initiatives to QA functional requirements, staffing objectives, and skill development.

·        Partner with trading bloc leadership and quality groups to anticipate QA needs to provide the methods, tools, oversight required to support the successful commercial introduction and maintenance of products.

 

5.       Regulatory

·        Responsible for understanding how applicable regulatory frameworks translate into QA systems, methods, and “mandatories,” to comply with regulatory guidelines in the marketplace in all geographic areas within EIMEA.

·        Collaborates with R&D and Compliance to ensure that anticipated and applicable regulations are considered across all QA functions.

·        Interprets existing and new regulations in terms of how QA activities and methods are affected. Provides cross-departmental guidance, to arrive at a joint response when actions are necessary.

Perform other related activities as needed to support corporate objectives. Act in the best interest of the company by applying stated company values/code of conduct and acting in congruence to company strategies and priorities.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • 5- 10 years’ experience of leading a QA function in manufacturing or chemical industry.
  • Experience of working independently and in a matrix management environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing and coaching others, allocation, and prioritization of activities.
  • Experience in working in organizations with an outsourced business model is desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, physical sciences, or engineering required or equivalent technical expertise. Master’s Degree in either a technical, business, or behavioral science field, preferred.
  • Education or training in financial aspects of quality functions, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Ongoing professional education in QA methods and systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma qualifications, desirable.
  • Specific training and education in experimental design and inferential statistics.
  • Prior aerosol experience in manufacturing of consumer-packaged goods is preferred.
